Run the door by hand. With the door closed, pull the emergency release cord and lift the door. The door then stops where the setting says, even if that's short of the floor. Thom checks where the door meets the floor, resets the limit, then rechecks the force and the safety reversal.

Lay a piece of timber flat on the floor under the middle of the door, then close the door with the remote. It should touch the timber and go straight back up. If it presses down on the timber or stops without reversing, stop using the opener and book a service. Keep kids and pets well clear while you test. Thom retests the safety reversal every time he adjusts the limits or force.

Repairs and servicing are booked as a callout valued between $200 and $300, depending on the door size and the labour involved. Emergency callouts outside 6am to 6pm are booked as a callout too.
