The door drags or judders because of sand in the tracks
Why it happens
Wind-blown sand collects in the lower tracks and sticks to greasy rollers.
Why it matters
Dragging rollers wear quickly, strain the opener and can make the door reverse unexpectedly. Signs to watch for: grinding as the door moves, sand piled at the base of the tracks, door stops or reverses partway.
Response
Thom clears the tracks, cleans or replaces rollers and switches to a lubricant that won't trap sand. Roller door maintenance uses silicone spray on the guides rather than grease.
